Breaking Ground On New Homes

Trellis has long been dedicated to improving the Garfield neighborhood and, in partnership with the City of Phoenix, has been building homes here for the past 20 years. On Tuesday morning, February 27, Trellis broke ground on 3 single-family new homes sites.

The event was hosted by Caroline Cancel, Director of Real Estate Development at Trellis and speakers included Trellis President and CEO Patricia Garcia Duarte, Trellis Board Chair Arturo Perez, District 8 Councilwoman Kate Gallego, the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Director Chris Hallett and Dana Johnson, President Alwun House Foundation and the Garfield Organization.

Two of the homes are being built courtesy of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and are located on 11th Street in the Garfield neighborhood. Trellis is also developing a market rate single family home on Fillmore and 10th Street.

Our 2-3 bedroom, 2-bath homes are fully accessible and conserve water, reduce utility demand and maintenance costs and foster a healthy living environment. Their designs are compatible with historic building patterns and architectural features common to the neighborhood.
