First Homeowner in South Phoenix Village

Trellis Client is the First Homeowner in South Phoenix Village
“I never thought that home ownership was a possibility!” confesses ShaWanda Brewer in front of a joyous crowd, gathered at the ribbon cutting ceremony earlier this month. ShaWanda, having moved here from California, explains how her Aunt, Patricia Evans (see photo below) urged her to “Just do it!”  She smiles and shares the story, “My auntie, sparked the fire in me to make the step towards making my dream come true.” As a Home Warranty Counselor for State Farm Insurance, she knows the importance of owning a home.

Ms. Brewer is the first of 121 homes that are being built in the next 3-4 years as part of the Strategic Plan by the City of Phoenix. “The homes have been going under contract quickly.” explains Karen M. Davis, Housing Program Manager for FSL (Foundation for Senior Living), a non-profit agency that provides homes and community-based services, which is working in partnership with the City of Phoenix. Trellis is proud to serve as a preferred housing agency to provide counseling for this Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) of South Phoenix Village. In her emotional gratitude speech, she thanked the City of Phoenix, FSL, and her Trellis Homeonwership Advisor & Financial Coach, Lavera Thompson.

There are 3 floor plans available for these homes in South Phoenix Village, and each comes with a down payment assistance program from the City of Phoenix NSP. For detailed information, please contact the listing agent and the Housing Program Manager at FSL, Karen Davis at kdavis@fsl.org.
