Caroline Cancel – Director of Real Estate Development
Caroline Cancel has spent most of her career in Corporate Banking in the areas of Loan Operations, Portfolio Management and Restructuring. She has recently relocated to Arizona from New York, where she worked with Habitat for Humanity NYC in Real Estate Construction. With a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance from Pace University and a Masters Degree in Real Estate Development from Arizona State University, she hopes to continue her passion for community development. She is no stranger to collaboration and achievement, as she is the first of 9 siblings to put herself through college and later obtain a Masters Degree. Raised by parents from Puerto Rico, Caroline speaks fluent Spanish. When asked about a favorite movie, it is no surprise that she resonates with the theme from ROCKY, which contains the message of determination against all odds. We are certainly fortunate to have her determination on our team.
Shelly Chen – Project Manager, Real Estate Department
Shelly Chen is a graduate from The University of Missouri as a Civil Engineer and has continued to expand her vast experience to include over 22 years in Construction Project Management in several locations across the United States. In her previous position with Blue Scope Buildings N.A., she established an Engineering Corporate Division in China and supervised 5 teams encompassing a variety of locations. Shelly, her husband and son have settled in Chandler, Arizona. Her secret talent is very simple. Most people don’t know that she tells great jokes, and always has one on hand. Shelly shares the secret to her motivating attitude, as she talks about the work at Trellis, “We can really make an impact.” Indeed.
Daniel Gonzalez – Loan Originator, Lending Department
Daniel Gonzalez is a true Arizonan, ASU Graduate and avid Cardinals fan. He comes to Trellis with over 12 years experience in lending and has specifically worked in the non-profit industry mortgage arena. Prior to his lending career, his 4 years as an Electrician E4 in the U.S. Navy in Maryland, perhaps added to his skills of patience and precision. He is well aware of the intricacies of home loans and down payment assistance, as he also served as Housing Counselor for CPLC (Chicanos Por La Causa) for approximately 4 years. When asked, he described Trellis as “helpful, engaging and really needed” and that is a perfect way to describe Mr. Gonzalez. Welcome.
